Malaria patent granted to ALFAMA in the United States
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted ALFAMA a new patent related to the prevention and prophylaxis of malaria. The application, entitled METHOD FOR THE PREVENTION OF MALARIA INFECTION OF HUMANS BY HEPATOCYTE GROWTH FACTOR ANTAGONISTS, was the result of an idea originally conceived by Dr. Werner Haas (one of Alfama’s founders) and Prof. Maria Mota, formerly of the Gulbenkian Institute of Science and now at the Institute for Molecular Medicine, in Lisbon, Portugal. By adding a significant new item to the company’s patent portfolio, this newly issued patent will contribute to the strengthening of ALFAMA`s overall IP position.
